Your roof is more than just the top layer of your home. It’s a complex system designed to protect, insulate and maintain the structure of your home. It’s an important investment, so it only follows that you’ll want to keep it in prime condition for as long as possible. Proper roofing maintenance is an important part of your roof’s upkeep and should never be neglected

Blocked Gutters

Like any of your home’s many systems, rain gutters require maintenance and occasional repair.   During a rainstorm, your home’s gutters handle the runoff from the entire roofing surface and drain it away from the home – a significant job indeed.

The gutter system, in coordination with your roofing, protects your home’s siding, windows, doors, and foundation from water damage.

Keeping your gutters clear is important in allowing water to properly drain from your roof and into the downspouts.

Loft or Roof Insulation

The Regulations regarding the thickness of Loft Insulation has increased every decade since the 1970's.

If you have not changed yours in the last 10 years, then, the chances are, your Loft Insulation is not 250mm to 270mm, which is now current Regulation.

Loft Insulation

The Regulations surrounding the thickness of Loft Insulation has increased every decade since the 1970's. Therefore, if your Loft Insulation is over 10 years old, the chances are, it does not meet current Regulations.

The current Regulations are a minimum 250mm of thickness.

Our best advice is, if you are having a New Roof and your Insulation is 10 to 15 years or older, have your Insulation raised.

For example, if you already have 100mm of Insulation, you only need 150mm, and so on and so forth.

The long term benefits of good insulation are well documented. It assists in keeping your property warmer and therefore saving money on the cost of energy (which will only increase with time). So, your energy cost savings will also increase in time.

Roof Insulation

Roof insulation should only ever really be considered, if you intend to use the Roof space as a room. Whether it be for storage of damp sensitive items, or as a living space.
