New Loft or Roof Insulation?

Loft Insulation - Island imperial Roofing

Loft Insulation

The Regulations surrounding the thickness of Loft Insulation has increased every decade since the 1970's. Therefore, if your Loft Insulation is over 10 years old, the chances are, it does not meet current Regulations.

The current Regulations are a minimum 250mm of thickness.

Our best advice is, if you are having a New Roof and your Insulation is 10 to 15 years or older, have your Insulation raised.

For example, if you already have 100mm of Insulation, you only need 150mm, and so on and so forth.

The long term benefits of good insulation are well documented. It assists in keeping your property warmer and therefore saving money on the cost of energy (which will only increase with time). So, your energy cost savings will also increase in time.

Roof Insulation

Roof insulation should only ever really be considered, if you intend to use the Roof space as a room. Whether it be for storage of damp sensitive items, or as a living space.
